The CLASS program is a 2 day rider training class which allows you to develop your riding skills in the safety and security of a riding setting using a street legal scooter or motorcycle supplied by the school. The class is taught by MSF certified instructors. The emphasis is on developing your confidence and skills as well as a better understanding of the motorcycle/scooter's operating systems. The class includes instruction in the classroom along with riding exercises and a rider skill assessment.
The course is based on the lessons of three-time AMA Superbike Champion Reg Pridmore and his hand selected team of instructors. Their philosophies have been honed over 50 years of racing, riding and teaching. The concepts are presented in a straight forward way so that they are easy to understand and apply. The result is a confident, capable and safer rider.
Practice Range
A large part of your motorcycle school will be held on a practice range which allows you to refine and test your riding skills in a controlled setting. The range is usually closed to traffic, so you can practice safely. Your RiderCoach will walk you through the basic techniques and controls of your bike before taking you out on the range. At the end of each session, your RiderCoach will score you on five skill evaluation exercises that focus on limited-space maneuvers such as braking, cornering and. If you are able to pass the riding-skills assessment, you'll receive the BRC Road Test Waiver Completion Card.

The course will conclude with a final riding-skill evaluation and you'll be awarded an award of completion and may qualify for a discount on your motorcycle insurance.
In many states, passing the motorcycle safety course is the only way for novice riders to obtain their licenses. Contact your local DMV office to find out whether a course is required or recommended. If it is, be sure to enroll in a Motorcycle Safety Foundation-approved course which is often used as an exemption to the road test by the DMV.

Feedback from Instructors
"The instructors were extremely professional and knowledgeable. They are concerned about their students, and it shows. They will teach you all the basics that you should be aware of when riding a motorcycle. I would highly recommend this class to any rider of any age or level of experience."
The classroom instruction was insightful and thought-provoking. The instructor feedback was the best part of the riding instruction. They did not just say "OK" they would tell you precisely what you did wrong, such as for instance, "You were looking down at the handlebars" or "You gave it too much gas" or "Your wrists were bent" or "You shifted gear too early" or "You were not pushing down on the foot peg". Then they explained to you how to fix it.
This kind of individual coaching is what you pay for in a top-quality training program and is what sets this class from many other classes. Some riders might consider this to be harsh however, my view is that it's imperative to give students the best chance of passing the test and staying safe on the bike.
I've attended other courses in the past and there was no personal feedback from the instructor. There's no reason why instructors should have the final say in the degree to which a student is able to pass an exam unless they're clearly threatening or hindering other students in the group.
In my opinion, any motorcycle school that doesn't provide individualized coaching is missing a key element of its curriculum and isn't worthy of the high marks it gets in student reviews. The best way to learn quickly and safely is to take the Basic RiderCourse, followed by private lessons. Learn from an expert to avoid making mistakes and begin riding with confidence and the skills you will use for an entire lifetime. Most states waive the written and endorsement tests for riding licenses for students who have completed a specialized RiderCourse and a few insurance companies offer discounts for those who successfully complete the course.
Final Exam
In the second portion of the course you will be taught road skills such as brakes or shifting gears, accelerating as well as turning and swerving. This part of the training is completed when you pass the riding skill test. This part of the course will determine whether you are issued a motorcycle license road test waiver card. The evaluation will include techniques that the DMV driver examiner will be looking for during your license test. The test can be challenging and if you don't pass, it's not the end of the world. Keep up the great work and work hard to get it right the next time.

If you pass the test your instructor will issue you a course completion certificate that can be used to receive a motorcycle insurance discount. You will also be a certified motorcycle rider and will be able to legally operate your bike on the streets.
